Our Purpose

The Green Jobs Foundation exists to ensure the green economy is inclusive, equitable, and powered by people. As climate change reshapes industries and labour markets, we are committed to preventing a divide between those who transition and those left behind.

We believe that a just transition is not only about technology and infrastructure – it’s about people, skills, and opportunity.

Our Vision

A future where every person and community has a pathway into meaningful green work and where business, education and society act together to make that possible.

Through our national network, we connect businesses, educators, funders, and social enterprises to co-design solutions that address skills shortages, unlock inclusive talent pipelines and drive measurable social impact.

Our Approach

As we move from research to action, from think-tank to do-tank.

We have built our “Eight Seeds of Radical Change”, each seed represents a system shift that, when planted and nurtured, grows a fair and future-ready workforce:

  1. Reframe the Narrative – Green Pathways, not just green jobs.
  2. Activate Community Influence – Teachers, parents, and role models as green career guides.
  3. Empower the Frontline – Back the grassroots organisations tackling barriers to work.
  4. Redesign Business-FE Relationships – From supplier to co-investor.
  5. Make Learning Fit Life – Flexible, modular and microlearning for all.
  6. Unlock Employer Leadership – Scale employer-led investment in skills and inclusion.
  7. Fund People, Not Just Projects – Invest in human potential and wraparound support.
  8. Build the Delivery Infrastructure – The Green Jobs Action Lab: from insight to implementation.

Our Role

We are the national connector ensuring that local action and national ambition meet.

  • Convene unlikely allies.
  • Provide and find evidence and tools.
  • Fund and back the frontline.
  • Influence policy through evidence.
  • Tell stories that shape culture and inspire change.

Why It Matters

The UK faces a green skills shortfall of hundreds of thousands of roles, while millions remain excluded from any economic opportunity at all. By growing the Green Jobs Foundation, we’re not just filling gaps, we’re building a system where social mobility, climate action and economic growth reinforce one another.

Together, we can make the green transition a social transition, one that delivers prosperity and purpose for everyone.
